Player Eligibility & Associated Costs
The Haven Youth Lacrosse Girls 3/4 team is open to girls in the 3rd and 4th grades who live in the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District. All players must purchase a uniform ($38-$48), register with and purchase a membership to US Lacrosse ($30) and have paid HYL registration fees ($130*) prior to the start of regular season to participate in practices and games.
* A sibling registration discount of $25 off registration is applied to every child from the same family after the first full-priced registration. Scholarships are also available. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to inquire about scholarship opportunities.
Our preseason starts the first week of March with indoor practices two nights/week on Monday and Wednesdays. Regular season starts the first week of April with outdoor practices two nights/week on Mondays and Wednesdays at the grass fields behind King Turf Stadium (behind Strath Haven Middle School).
NEW THIS YEAR FOR GIRLS… HYL has changed the uniform jerseys for the 2018 season but not the bottoms. All players are required to purchase a new jersey. Every player is required to have a game uniform consisting of a jersey, kilt or shorts and socks. New uniform orders may be placed in conjunction with the registration process. Jersey number requests will be taken but not guaranteed. HYL will subsidize half the cost of 1 jersey per player. Any additional jerseys ordered will be charged at the regular cost.
The HYL Girls 3/4 team typically plays 6 games/season on Saturday and/or Sundays starting early April with the season concluding by late May/early June. We play against other townships registered with PAGLA. Home games are held at the fields we practice on or on King Turf Field (both located at 200 S Providence Rd, Wallingford, PA 19086 - behind the middle school). When game schedules are available they will be communicated by the coach and posted on the HYL website.
As specified by US Lacrosse, all field players shall have a lacrosse stick, eyewear and mouthguard. Depth of the pocket on a girl’s stick can allow no more than half of the ball be seen below the sidewall. The overall length of the stick shall be 90 cm minimum to 110 cm maximum. End caps are included when measuring the overall length.
As specified by US Lacrosse, the goalkeeper must wear a helmet with face mask and properly secured chinstrap, a separate throat protector, padded gloves, a mouthpiece, a chest protector, a pelvic protector and padding on the shins and thighs. The protective helmet, designed for lacrosse, must meet the NOCSAE test standard.

The Philadelphia Area Girls Lacrosse Association (PAGLA) is the local governing body of lacrosse that manages game schedules, ref coordination, establishes rules, etc. HYL is a member of PAGLA and plays against other local townships who are also PAGLA members. US Lacrosse is the national governing body of lacrosse. Every HYL player on the 3rd-8th grade travel teams must purchase a US Lacrosse membership for $30 to be able to register and play for HYL. Membership provides injury insurance as well as several other benefits. You will be promoted to register with US Lacrosse during the HYL registration process.
